Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Orphic Luo Pan mobile application for iOS and Android, provided by Orphic Meridian Association ("we", "us", or "our").
The app does not require an account or use advertising services.
Information stored on your device
When you choose to save a measurement, the app stores the following information locally on your device:
- the measurement date and time;
- the heading and the derived Twenty-Four Mountains result;
- the type of space you select; and
- any note you enter.
The app also stores your onboarding status and language preference locally. This information remains in the app's local documents directory and is not uploaded to us as measurement content.
Magnetometer data
The app reads three-axis magnetic-field values from your device's magnetometer to calculate magnetic heading, assess reading stability, and display field strength. Raw magnetometer values are processed while measuring and are not written to your saved measurement records.
Only after you hold and save a reading are the calculated heading, Twenty-Four Mountains result, space type, and optional note stored on your device.
The app does not access precise or approximate location, contacts, camera, photos, microphone, or health data.
Performance, interaction, and error diagnostics
Production builds use Expo's EAS Observe service to understand app startup, rendering, and navigation performance and to record limited product events and non-fatal errors. This information may include:
- operating system, device, and session-related technical information;
- startup, rendering, route, and navigation performance;
- whether onboarding was completed, the language preference was changed, or a measurement was saved or deleted;
- the number of saved records, the selected space type, and whether a note exists;
- whether the sensor is available; and
- error type, error message, and stack trace.
We do not send the text of your notes, your saved heading, or your Twenty-Four Mountains result as observability events. Measurement-related route parameters are also filtered from navigation metrics.
We use diagnostics to find faults, improve reliability, and confirm that features work as intended. They are not used for advertising profiles or tracking across apps or websites. Expo processes this information on our behalf. Expo's current documentation states that EAS Observe metric data is retained for at least 60 days; its processing is also governed by the Expo Privacy Policy.
App updates and network connections
The app may use Expo Application Services to check for and download updates that we publish. Update requests create technical information needed to provide the network service, and EAS Observe may record update-download performance.
Apart from app updates, performance observability, and error diagnostics, the app does not send your locally saved measurement content to our servers.
Retention and deletion
Local measurements remain on your device until you delete an individual record in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
Diagnostic information is retained according to the services we use and our operational needs. We retain it only as needed for the stated purposes and handle deletion requests as required by applicable law.
Sharing and international processing
We do not sell personal information. Technical information used for updates, performance observability, and error diagnostics may be processed by Expo and its infrastructure providers and may be transferred to or stored outside your country or region.
We do not disclose this information to other third parties except to service providers, when required by law, or when necessary to protect users and the security of the service.
Children's privacy
Orphic Luo Pan is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us using the address below.
Your choices and rights
You can choose not to save a measurement, delete saved records, or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data. Depending on the law where you live, you may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection regarding personal information that we process.
Because the app has no account system, diagnostic information is not normally linked directly to your name or email address. If we cannot reasonably identify a record as yours, we may be unable to locate or delete that individual record.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, we will update this policy before the relevant feature is released. This page always presents the current policy, while prior policies remain available in the version history.
